More Pictures

My sister and brother in law were in town earlier this month. I left alot of their pictures out so they could post them on their blog. So click this link if you want to see more of Bryson and their trip to Houston. It is also listed on the tool bar as Rollins Family.

On a funny note I got to stay home and babysit Bryson yesterday. He had a slight temp at day care Tuesday but they have a 24 hour mandate if they find your child with a temp. So I stayed home with him for some quality time. I left him for a sec playing with his toys on one side of the room to get him some milk. In the 5 sec I was gone he managed to crawl to the other side of the room and empty out his diaper basket. Even getting the canvas show piece out of it. Amazes me how they just seem to know when they have a moment to get into trouble. I am sure there are many more to come!

My First Rodeo

This past weekend Bryson got to go to the Houston Rodeo for very first time! The weather was nasty outside so it was the perfect time to spend the day inside. Bryson couldnt wait to get into his official "Rodeo" outfit (thanks Aunt Keri!). It's just too bad his cheapo dad wouldn't buy him any cowboy boots to wear since they would only fit for a week!
How about a little brisket! Woah! Look at all these cows! Future Bull Rider Little Man Bryson on Diablo! Hey wheres his head??Look I am on a cow AND I found my shoes!Look! No poop on the ground to play in so mom let me go free!! This cow is just my size too!Hey! Who is that back there?!? Hey Miss Moo, I don't think you are suppose to be standing up! Got Milk? I will take two ounces please!Hello Mr. Goat...please don't eat my outfit. Hey you don't feel like my cats! Bryson did not expect the coarse hair texture. He did not like it at all! After the pot belly pig, Bryson thought all the animals would feel this way so he refused to 'pet' any others!

Bryson not wanting to touch any other animals now!

Until this cute little bunny came out. Bryson then got so excited he started kicking his feet and he kicked the rabbit! The rabbit FREAKED out! Wow! What a day! Well that was all he could handle. Its time to get him home and get a little bath time so he doesn't smell like rodeo animals forever!

School B-day

Bryson had his Birthday Party at his daycare on the Friday before his birthday. All of the kids loved to share some of the cupcakes Bryson's mom made the night before.

Bryson first thought was "OH NO" here we go again with the hats and pictures and said he thought a nap would be a better idea.

Here was the final thought on the hat!

Once mom lost the hat battle all was back to normal and Bryson dug into the cupcake.

Until he realized there was something else to push momma's button with. He took the candle right out and tried to eat that! Mean old momma took it away with out even letting Bryson get any frosting off it!

And here is the final meltdown. Time for a passy hit and a nap! (Realized we don't really have any true meltdown shots of Bryson. So here ya go...he is in good form!)

1st Birthday Party

Bryson will be officially turning ONE in a couple of days. We had his first of, what I am sure will be a bunch of parties, last weekend. It was great to see him have so much fun. You don't realize until it happens that even the little things, like a balloon, is entertainment.

Here is Bryson's Big #1 Cake which he shared with everyone.

And of course here is the master's throne which came with his very own cake!

I will let the next few pictures speak for themselves and let the tradition live on!

We weren't really sure which he liked more:1-playing with the cake or 2- all the balloons around him. At one point we couldn't tell what was cake and what was balloon.

Above is Bryson's "presents" table. And below, of course, mom couldn't help but pull out all the hats to try on.

Learning how big kids play with balloons. Thanks Gunner for showing me all the tricks to it.

Bryson making sure everyone knew how old he was. (Bonus: You could actually get him to look straight ahead instead of trying to get what was behind him!)

Rodeo Time-BBQ

It's that time again. Rodeo season is already here! We start with a three day BBQ Cook-Off. This is Bryson's first visit as he was just getting ready to be born two weeks later last year. He loved to watch all the people. He is definitely a people watcher like his parents. Mom and Dad loved the food and drinks! Bryson didn't complain about getting a bunch of BBQ chicken pieces either! By next year hopefully we can get him ready for some ribs. It was 80 degrees on Friday and dropped to 35 by Saturday night. So after a couple of hours when Bryson's cheeks started turning ice cold and rosy we headed for home.
Here was our best attempt at a family photo. There was just way too much action going on with the grills and meat to get Bryson to look at the camera.
Here is a wide shot aerial view I found. It gives you a little bit of an idea of the size of the cook-off.

LA Trip = HELL

Well, I think we have finally recovered enough that we can write something about our trip to UCLA. Not really sure we will ever want to read it but it did happen and we want to share. We went to UCLA to get a special MRI for Bryson and his eyes to help his doctor here in Houston. We are hoping for surgery in the next couple of months. This trip was suppose to occur the second weekend in February (actually over Valentine's weekend) but it got moved a week later due to machine maintenance. This ended up putting us in LA during that small event they call the Grammys!

The flight from Houston to LA went great. Bryson is a professional flyer now and even got his own seat both ways. I guess this should have been my cue that since all the flights were on time and extra room on the planes that the trip itself was in for problems. The last couple of trips we have had a awful time with delays and getting where we are going to on time but have had wonderful trips.
We arrived in LA and got to our hotel with no problems. We woke up the next morning for Bryson's appointment and enjoyed the view from our hotel. Everything with his doctor's appointment and MRI went well and without a hitch. They did have him under just little longer than they had anticipated because they were able to get a few more specialized pictures and did tell us they had to suck a little mucus from him when they were waking him up.

We returned to our hotel room and planned for a relaxing night and allow Bryson to recover from the day and get ready to be a tourist in California for the next couple of days. Well, around 8pm (3 hours after we left UCLA) Bryson seemed to slow down a little from playing. We figured he was tired and gave him a bath and got him ready for bed. Kristi noticed Bryson was shivering after the bath and figured he was just cold so she got him bundled up in his pajamas and a blanket. After watching him for the next few minutes he did not seem right to us and we decided to check his temperature even though he didn't really feel warm. It STARTED at 102 degrees and proceeded to climb to 104!! So Kristi went into panicked mom mode and we immediately tried to get some medicine into him to help the fever. Of course Bryson proceeds to throw it up 5 secs later. We were then left with no other option but to grab stuff and head down to our rental car stopping only briefly by the front desk to find out were the nearest Emergency Room was.

We proceed at a fast pace through a foreign city in the dark for an Emergency Room that is supposedly only 3 miles away. Luckily, a very nice lady at a red light said she would show us the way and personally drove to the hospital with us in tow. Kristi took Bryson in immediately while I parked the car (what felt like 5 miles away). By the time I got in there they had given Bryson more medicine and were taking his temp which was now at 105 degrees. By the way, we ended up at Cedars-Sinai Hospital. You know the one where Britney Spears went and all other famous people go. Well Bryson proceeds to throw up all their meds as well. So we are left for about 45 mins in the room with a now naked Bryson and crying Bryson (kept wiping him with cool rags). After which time they were able to get a suppository ordered and into him to get the fever down. They also wanted an IV started so they could get fluids and antibiotic for the infection in him. An infection they believe they are seeing in his lungs from a chest x-ray they take. This would have been no problem except you have to practically starve and dehydrate your kid for the MRI and Bryson had not had time to recover from that yet. So there was no way to get an IV started even though it didn't stop them from trying! Did I mention that Bryson is not happy with the situation. I can't blame him though because they have attempted an IV at least 10 times with the last attempts coming from the NICU nurse they called down. He wants to be asleep and all they keep doing is waking him up for more IV attempts. At that point he had a pretty steady cry.

Luckily, we got a good ER doctor and he knew when to call the battle. When the suppository kicked in and got his temp down to 101 and Bryson was able to nurse with Kristi and keep it down, he was more receptive to giving Bryson a shot of antibiotic and not trying to admit him to the hospital. He gave us some suppositories to take with us and a prescription for an antibiotic and the advice we see our pedi as soon as we got back since it was only in a few days. We definitely had mutual feelings there.

And to keep this from being much longer. We got the medicine which Bryson refused to take. If we did get it down, even mixed with food, he would throw it up. So after fighting it Friday all day and starting Saturday out the same way, Kristi raised the white flag and asked "Can't we just go home"...I called Continental and told them to get us home now!!!!!!! Once we got back to Houston we were able to get a better prescription where we have had no more trouble getting him to take as well as all the comforts of home. Come to find out the fever and blurriness they saw on the chest x-ray where both just due to the anesthesia he had received. The sickness was probably a case of sinus infection everyone is getting but got brought on faster by him being dehydrated , giving blood and traveling.

Lessons Learned:

We did not know but they sell suppositories over the counter and we now have a box with us all the time! So if we do run into trouble we should be able to at least get his temperature down to a manageable level even if his tummy is not wanting to keep anything down.

We only have a few pics from the trip. This is the view from our room towards the Pacific in the distances.
We were right next the business offices of MGM.

Friday night we did go ahead and get Bryson ready for bed and loaded him up in the car seat and let him sleep while we drove around and did a self guided tour of the area. We drove down Hollywood Blvd all the way to where they had it blocked off for the red carpet stuff. I parked around the corner and stayed with Bryson while Kristi went up and looked around. She brought back some pictures from the area. She did like getting to see all that in person and then Sunday watch it from home and see all the same stuff from the TV perspective.

However, you can tell who she still had in the back of her mind!

And of course here is our little man checking out the super comfortable hotel bed when we first got there, before all the craziness started!
